Hon. Mathias Mpuuga has said that he will not leave the National Unity platform.
In a press conference held today at Parliament, Mpuuga affirmed that he is among the founders of the party and he is going nowhere.
“I’m here to state that I’m a founder of NUP. I did not join NUP, I was a part of the founding blocks of NUP where I served as a Deputy President in charge of Buganda. I’m here to reaffirm I’m not leaving NUP,” Mpuuga said.
He added; “At least nobody has moved me to the level of deserting a party that I founded. That should be understood.
“Whoever thought that they were hounding me out of NUP, I’m here to inform them that whichever indiscipline, mismanagement, or mischievous manoeuvres, we are going to be in the party.
“Let me assure the entire NUP leadership, membership supporters and the general public that NUP is my party and I harbour no intentions of leaving the party.”
Mpuuga also said that He would organise his party members to win the public trust to create regime change.
“We must regain public confidence as NUP and the Opposition, trust and demonstrate that we are worthy of the people’s support in leading towards change and transformation the Ugandan masses are yearning for,” he said adding that; “Ugandans must be encouraged to question the decisions of their leaders especially those in higher offices that make decisions and act on their behalf.
“I wish to reassure all comrades in the struggle for a fair Uganda that my commitment has never weaned.
This comes after NUP officially wrote to Parliament Parliament of its decision to withdraw the mandate and nomination of Hon. Mathias Mpuuga as Parliamentary Commissioner.
