On 13 Jun 24 at about 1200 hours, Wandegeya Police Division conducted intelligence-led operations targeting criminals siphoning fuel at Mulago mortuary washing bay, Busia zone, Wandegeya parish Kawempe Division.
This followed a video footage that circulated on social media showing three people siphoning fuel from a vehicle, double cabin grey in colour.
The key suspect in that footage was arrested and has been identified as Mutebi Peter aged 30 years, unemployed and a resident of Quorta zone, Kyebando parish, Kawempe Division in Kampala District.
Others still at large include:
1. Asiku
2. Lubwama
3. Mawanda John
4. Emma
5. Kalema
Intelligence reveals over 20 vehicles are siphoned on daily basis and the fuel is sold out to boda boda ridders at Shs 5,000 per two litres whereas diesel is sold in Bwaise.
Police recovered exhibits from the scene
The suspect has been charged with Stealing from Motor vehicle.
Intelligence reveals that the Drivers connive with criminals to siphon the fuel from their bosses’ vehicles.
Such criminal activity has taken long at the same area with full knowledge of managers of the washing bay.
Similar operation are to be extended to nearby washing bays in the area
