The National Planning Authority (NPA) reached a significant milestone with the installation of its newly appointed Executive Board.
The event, hosted at the Planning House, was overseen by Hon. Amos Lugoloobi, Minister of State for Finance, Planning, and Economic Development (Planning).
Heading the new Board is Prof. Pamela K. Mbabazi, along with five members who bring a wealth of expertise in economic planning and development.
Hon. Lugoloobi stressed the pivotal role of the Board in offering strategic leadership and direction to the NPA, underscoring the significance of effective planning in attaining Uganda’s development objectives, particularly within the Fourth National Development Plan (NDPIV).
“We must quickly guide our technical team in formulating well-structured program plans and subsequent regional and local development strategies,” Hon. Lugoloobi remarked. He further assigned specific strategic objective themes of NDPIV to the Board members as follows:
- Prof. Pamela K. Mbabazi: Private Sector and Strategic Partnership
- Dr. Ivan Lule: Production, Value Addition, and Institutional Development
- Hon. Mukitale Stephen Mukitale Adyeeri: Infrastructure and Physical Planning
- Prof. Enos Kiremire: Human Capital Development
- Hon. Lydia Wanyoto: Peace, Security, Governance, and Publicity
Prof. Pamela Mbabazi, in her address as the NPA Board Chairperson, expressed appreciation to the President of Uganda and the Minister for the opportunity to serve a second term.
She pledged the Board’s dedication to fulfilling its duties, stating, “We are committed to executing our mandate and eagerly anticipate collaborating with the outstanding NPA team.”
The ceremony was attended by the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, Directors, NPA staff, security personnel, and all other supporting staff who warmly welcomed the newly appointed Board with optimism and enthusiasm.
The NPA, a government entity, is tasked with creating and overseeing the implementation of national development plans, formulating policies, conducting research, and offering crucial advice on socio-economic development matters in Uganda.
