On August 2, 2024, at around 2:00 PM, the Katwe Division Police in Kampala Metropolitan South conducted an operation that resulted in the arrest of KIZITO ISAAC, also known as Kamese, a notorious robber and resident of Kisangani Zone, Masaja- Makindye Division- Kampala City.
Kamese had broken into Ssendija Mike’s house and stolen a mattress, DVD player, phone, and cash worth 400,000 Ugandan shillings.
Kamese led the police to his gang, all of whom were residents of Kisangani, Masaja ward.
A total of 8 suspects were arrested, and exhibits, including TVs, a fridge, hoofers, mattresses, and flat irons, were recovered.
The suspects include:
- Ssegawa Ronald, a 19-year-old male resident of Kikajjo Masaja ward.
- Hamza Jjuko Kasobiti, a 26-year-old male on the police watchlist, a resident of Kisangani Masaja
- Turyasingura Abel, a 19-year-old male resident of Kibutika Ndejje
- Kitoogo Tonny, an 18-year-old male on the police watchlist, a resident of Masaja
- Kamanzi Emmanuel, a 38-year-old male resident of Kisangani, Masaja
- Kanyango Isaac, a 25-year-old male resident of Kisangani Masaja
- Kizito Isaac, a 24-year-old male on the police watchlist, a resident of Mirimu Zone
- Kiyingo Wusama, a 27-year-old male resident of Kikajo Masaja.
The operation was successful, leading to the arrest of some of the most dangerous thugs in the area. Notably, 4 out of the 8 suspects were already on the police intelligence watchlist.
It was also observed that after their operations, the suspects had a store where they kept stolen property while looking for a market.
Some of the thugs pretended to be scrap collectors as they moved around, identifying potential targets for their criminal activities.
