The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has demonstrated its commitment to community development and education by donating 100 bags of cement to Kabukara Primary School in Rwampara District.
This donation, part of URSB’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaign, aims to enhance the educational facilities of the government-aided, Church of Uganda-founded rural primary school.
The initiative reflects URSB’s dedication to making a positive impact beyond its core mandate of registrations.
Addressing the Needs of Kabukara Primary School
Kabukara Primary School, with an enrolment of 102 students, including one primary seven candidate, faces significant challenges due to its deteriorating facilities.
The school’s infrastructure is in dire need of refurbishment to create a conducive learning environment for the children.
URSB’s donation is a crucial step toward addressing these needs and improving the school’s infrastructure.
Official Handover Ceremony
The donation was officially handed over by Ambassador Francis Butagira, Chairman of the Board of Directors at URSB, during a ceremony attended by prominent figures including the Bishop of Ankole Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Sheldon Mwesigwa, community members, school officials, and other stakeholders.
The event underscored URSB’s belief in the transformative power of education and the importance of providing a safe and inspiring space for students to learn and thrive.
URSB’s Commitment to Community Development
During the handover ceremony, Ambassador Francis Butagira emphasized URSB’s dedication to supporting causes that uplift communities.
“We are pleased to join hands with Kabukara Primary School to make a difference in the lives of our children. By working together to improve their learning facilities, we can help them envision a brighter future,” Ambassador Butagira remarked.
Similarly, the Deputy Registrar General, Mr. Alex Anganya, highlighted URSB’s broader efforts to give back to society.
“The donation of cement for the rehabilitation of Kabukara Primary School is part of URSB’s ongoing commitment to promote sustainable development and empower future generations through access to quality education,” Anganya stated.
Appreciation from the Local Community
Bishop Sheldon Mwesigwa expressed gratitude to the URSB team for their generous support, emphasizing that such acts of kindness promote the work of God on earth.
“I applaud URSB for supporting this primary school by contributing to the rehabilitation of classroom blocks, which will have a positive impact on the learning environment for the pupils. We appreciate your kind hearts,” the Bishop said.
URSB’s Broader CSR Efforts
This philanthropic gesture is a testament to URSB’s values of social responsibility, empathy, and partnership with local communities.
URSB has consistently made significant contributions in the areas of health, education, and social welfare. For instance, in 2022, URSB donated a mobile ultrasound machine to Kawempe National Referral Hospital to support maternal and child healthcare.
In 2021, they constructed and handed over a five-door health and sanitary facility to Oleni Primary School in Arua District.
A Catalyst for Positive Change
URSB’s annual CSR policy is focused on creating lasting social impact and promoting inclusive growth. The organization remains committed to advancing education, empowering youth, and fostering a culture of giving back to communities in need.
Through strategic partnerships, community engagement, and targeted interventions, URSB strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those it serves, contributing to the overall development of Uganda.
