The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has given an assurance to all travelers that the country is a hundred percent safe to visit, despite the recent outbreak of Mpox.
This statement issued this afternoon comes several days after Uganda’s Ministry of Health had confirmed two cases of Mpox at the border area near the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
However, from that day, the individuals have been promptly isolated and treated, and all contact traces have tasted negative.
“Uganda Tourism Board wishes to reiterate that Uganda is secure to visit by tourists, and the overall risk of infection is low.” Part of the Statement reads.
According to UTB, the country has also implemented enhanced surveillance and contact tracing protocols, as well as intensified screening for Mpox at selected entry points. Rigorous health protocols were in place across tourist facilities and public spaces.
Uganda Tourism Board, together with health authorities, is committed to providing up-to-date information and maintaining a safe environment for all.
“We encourage travelers to continue planning their trips to Uganda with confidence. For the most current travel advice and health guidelines, we recommend staying informed through official channels, including the Uganda Ministry of Health.” UTB statement reads.
