His Excellency the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today appointed Dr. Crispus Kiyonga as the new Makerere University Chancellor.
The former Minister of Defense replaces Dr. Ezra Seruma who has been in the position for over a decade.
The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, extended warm congratulations to Dr. Kiyonga on his prestigious appointment.
In a tweet, Prof. Nawangwe welcomed Dr. Kiyonga to the service of Makerere University, expressing the university council’s enthusiasm for his leadership.
“His Excellency the President of Uganda has appointed Dr. Crispus Kiyonga as the new Chancellor of Makerere University. On behalf of Makerere University Council, I extend our warm congratulations to Dr. Kiyonga on this prestigious appointment and warmly welcome him to the service of Makerere University.” Nawangwe said in a tweet.
As Chancellor, Dr. Kiyonga will play a key role in guiding the university’s strategic direction and promoting its interests.
Muhindo Joshua, a veteran academia from Kasese district congratulated Dr. Kiyonga describing his expertise and leadership experience as something going to be undoubtedly a valuable assets to the Makerere University community.
