Security officers arrested at least four nude anti-corruption protesters near the Ugandan parliament on Monday afternoon, according to eyewitnesses.
The young female protesters, who were completely nude with their breasts painted in the colors of the Ugandan flag, carried placards condemning corruption and calling for the resignation of Parliament Speaker Anita Among.
Before their arrest, they marched through the streets near Uganda’s legislative assembly but were quickly intercepted by security personnel, including plainclothes officers.
The protesters were also heard demanding an audit of the earnings and lifestyles of Ugandan lawmakers, as well as greater accountability from the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) following the recent collapse of the Kiteezi dumpsite, which claimed over 35 lives last month.
