Days after he was caught in a now-viral social media video directing traffic in the rain, Police Constable Abdallah Tusiime is a major sensation among the Muslim community.
Tumah-Tour Travels Limited has gifted him a fully funded first-class trip to Mecca in Saudi Arabia for Umrah, something Tusiime says has been a long-cherished wish—and now an answered prayer.
Umrah is an act of worship undertaken by Muslims, involving pilgrims who travel to Mecca.
Tusiime’s dedication caught public attention after a video of him at work was shared on social media.
Eric Mboowa, one of the netizens who shared the video, captioned it: “This guy must be one of the best Traffic Officers in Uganda. Isn’t he the same guy who used to be at the City Oil Junction in Kamwokya?”
On Monday, the Minister of Science and Innovation, Dr. Monica Musenero, accompanied by clerics from the Inter-religious Council of Uganda (IRCU), led by Bishop Joshua Lwere, visited Abdallah Tusiime. The bishop noted that the IRCU is willing to sponsor his firstborn’s education up to university. IRCU and the minister also offered him financial support.
