Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake has been rushed to the hospital following a scuffle that erupted in Parliament’s chambers during a plenary session.
The incident began after Zaake voiced security concerns, claiming that individuals who were not MPs had entered the chambers carrying firearms.
After making his submission, Zaake allegedly approached Kilak North MP Anthony Akol’s seat and attempted to occupy it, which led to a confrontation.
In video footage circulating on social media, Akol can be seen repeatedly punching Zaake, who ultimately falls to the ground.

This isn’t the first time Zaake has faced a physical altercation in Parliament.
In 2017, during a heated debate over a proposed amendment to remove the presidential age limit, Zaake was reportedly struck by Gen. Katumba Wamala, former Chief of Defence Forces and current Minister of Works and Transport.
The motion at the time, which was met with significant opposition, would allow President Museveni to rule beyond the age of 75.
MPs resisting the age limit removal clashed with members of the Special Forces Command after they were suspended by then-Speaker Rebecca Kadaga and refused to leave the chambers.
