Equity Bank Uganda has celebrated the dedicated service of its outgoing Managing Director, Anthony Kituuka, who has served the bank with distinction for over a decade.
Kituuka, who has been instrumental in steering the bank to its current position as one of the top five banks in Uganda, has demonstrated exceptional leadership, mentorship, and executive acumen during his tenure.
“Anthony has been an integral part of our team, and his contributions to the growth and success of Equity Bank Uganda cannot be overstated,” said Mark Ociti, Board Chairman of Equity Bank Uganda. “We are grateful for his dedication and service, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
During his tenure, Kituuka has overseen significant growth and expansion of the bank, including the increase of its customer base to 2.2 million, customer deposits to nearly UGX 3 trillion, and a loan book to close to UGX 1.7 Trillion.
“Anthony’s leadership and vision have been instrumental in driving our growth and success,” said Dr. James Mwangi, Group Managing Director and CEO of Equity Group Holdings Plc. “We are proud of his achievements and grateful for his dedication to our organization.”
As Kituuka prepares to transition from his role, Equity Bank Uganda has expressed its appreciation for his service and commitment to the bank’s mission and values.
“Anthony will always be remembered as a dedicated and passionate leader who has made a lasting impact on our organization,” said Ociti. “We wish him all the best in his future endeavors and look forward to continuing to build on the strong foundation he has established.”
Anthony joined Equity Bank after stellar corporate performances in the manufacturing, banking and audit sectors.
His journey with Equity started in 2014, when he joined Equity Group as the group Executive Director for operations, where he was in charge of regional operations in five East African countries.
He was later promoted and appointed Executive Director at Equity Bank Uganda. A position he served in for over five years and was again promoted to the position of Managing Director, making history and becoming the first Ugandan to be appointed Managing Director of Equity Bank Uganda.
He replaced Samuel Kirubi. Kirubi, who was promoted to Group Chief Operation Officer.
