The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) in collaboration with the leadership of Bushenyi have amplified efforts to lay water mains that will significantly improve water supply for residents in Ruhumuro, Bitooma, and surrounding areas within the greater Bushenyi service region.
This initiative is part of the broader Water for All campaign, aimed at ensuring reliable access to clean water for all community members.
This move has also attracted more partners like Roofings Group Uganda who have played in vital role in vital project, which includes several key water stabilization plans for Ruhumuro Subcounty.
Projects underway.
- Rehabilitation and Source Reprotection: Upgrading the Kyabukumu Gravity Flow System (GFS) to ensure sustainable water quality and supply.
- Construction of Public Water Points: Establishing 20 public water points to improve access for residents.
- Development of the Kitwe GFS: This involves acquiring land and constructing essential infrastructure, including retaining walls and a sedimentation tank.
- Laying of Raw Water Mains: Installing infrastructure to serve Bugaara parish.
- Distribution Main Extension: Installing a 17 km distribution main from the Warugo reservoir in Kakanju Subcounty to enhance water delivery.
- Concrete Twin Tanks Construction: Building 120-cubic meter concrete twin tanks at Bugaara Catholic Church to support local water storage needs.
- Water Mains Extensions: Planning to lay additional water mains and intensifications in 2025 to expand coverage.
- Service Extension to Bitooma Town Council: Expanding water services to Bitooma Town Council and the surrounding areas to ensure comprehensive access.
