The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has today announced the opening of applications for the Student Scholarship Programme (SSP). This initiative aims to support aspiring accountants in achieving their career goals by providing financial aid for the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) course.
In today’s dynamic business environment, accountants are not just number crunchers; they are strategic business advisors and leaders. The CPA qualification opens doors to a myriad of opportunities in various fields, including: Tax Consultancy, Financial Management, Audit and Assurance Service, Financial Reporting, Management Accounting and Insolvency Practice
With skills in high demand across all sectors, CPAs can also venture into entrepreneurship by establishing their own accounting firms.
Career Prospects Include: Chief Executive Officer, Partner/Practitioner, Chief Operating Officer, Director of Governance, Financial Controller, Internal Auditor And many more!
Launched in 2019, the SSP has supported six cohorts of students as of January 2025. The programme is open to all Bachelor’s degree holders from recognized public and private chartered universities.
This Scholarship CoversRegistration fees, Annual studentship fees, Examination fees and Study materials.
A total of 10 slots are available for this prestigious scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the SSP, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in 2024
- Attainment of a first-class honours or second-class honours (upper division)
Application Requirements
Interested candidates should prepare the following documents:
- A 300-word essay detailing their desire to become a professional accountant, adhering to the following guidelines:
- Clear format and focus on the topic
- Original content (no internet or AI-generated essays)
- Strict observance of the word limit
