Police in Katwe have apprehended a suspect in possession of suspected stolen items and opium during a late-night operation in Ggangu C Cell, Busabala ward, Masajja division.
The arrest, which occurred at 3:30 a.m. on January 15, followed a joint patrol by officers from the Kibiri Police Station, Gangu UPDF Detach officers, and local council authorities.
The operation intercepted three suspects, including Sserugo Isaac and two accomplices who managed to escape.
Upon searching the premises, authorities recovered an array of items believed to be stolen, including:
- Sharp Objects: 10 knives, 2 pangas, 1 hammer, and 4 pliers
- Break-in Tools: 4 master keys
- Electronics: 5 mobile phones, 1 StarTimes decoder, and 1 Gotv decoder
- Personal Items: 5 women’s handbags, 1 suitcase, and 12 SIM cards
Witnesses provided statements to the police, and authorities reported that the suspects could not provide credible explanations for the items in their possession.
While two suspects evaded arrest, the detained individual is being held at Katwe Main Police Station for further questioning to determine the motive and origins of the recovered items.

Investigations are ongoing, and the police have urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying the rightful owners of the recovered property.
