In a move to strengthen bilateral relations, Uganda and Pakistan convened the inaugural session of political consultations in Kampala on Friday, January 17, 2025.
The landmark meeting marked a significant step in formalizing the framework for enhanced cooperation between the two nations.
The Pakistani delegation, led by H.E. Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary, began their visit with courtesy calls to Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Oryem Henry Okello, on January 16, and Hon. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on January 17.
Both Ugandan officials emphasized the potential for collaboration in agro-processing, mineral development, and information and communication technology (ICT).
The consultations culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Political Consultations, which paves the way for expanded collaboration in political, economic, scientific, and cultural domains.
