On January 28, 2025, during the burial ceremony for Leonard Waniale, a relative of Rev. Jackson Magombe, Nandala expressed strong criticism of former leader Besigye. He accused Besigye of seeking to seize power through violence.
“Fellow mourners, I urge you to distance yourselves from politicians like Besigye, who has lost all credibility. He once led us with clear ideologies, but sadly, he lost his vision and refused to relinquish power,” Nandala stated.
He further claimed that Besigye abandoned the party during a critical financial crisis and later returned to stir unrest by accusing party members of being government informants without any proof.
“At Najjanakumbi, we held the party together, seeking funds from various sources after they had set it in motion. Besigye attempted to take the party from us, and we could not allow that,” he added.
Nandala noted that Besigye, in an effort to collaborate with him and President Patrick Amuriat Oboi, split the FDC into two factions, leading to the creation of Katonga FDC. However, this faction ultimately failed, prompting Besigye to form another party, the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), which also struggled to gain traction.
“Many of you know that Besigye was arrested in Kenya with firearms and money, looking for unlawful ways to gain power. I must warn you, my fellow Ugandans, to stay away from Besigye; he will only lead you to prison or death,” Nandala cautioned.
He urged supporters to remain vigilant and avoid any engagement with Besigye and his detrimental intentions, emphasizing that his actions threaten the peace and stability of Uganda.
Nandala stressed the importance of unity and peaceful dialogue in tackling the nation’s challenges, stating, “We believe in constructive engagement and peaceful resolutions; divisive politics and inflammatory rhetoric have no place in our society.”
