The third edition of the Stanbic Entebbe Match Play challenge officially teed off at the par-71 lake side course of Entebbe Golf Club over the weekend.
Over 170 golfers took part in the day-long event with 64 pairings advancing to round one scheduled for 8th March 2025. The winning pair at the grand finale will earn fully paid for return air tickets to Dubai.
On Saturday, there were also enticing prizes on the course and off (on the 19th hole) with co-sponsor CFAO Mobility staking a car (Suzuki Grand Vitara) on the par-3 hole number two and a Yamaha bike on any par-3 scored on the day.
At the end of play, Arthur Kiwanuka, the Stanbic Head of Personal and Private Banking thanked Entebbe Golf Club for hosting the event. “We are glad to be the sponsors again and hopefully we’ll continue with this as long as people continue playing.”
He said, “The excitement for me this year is our decision to make it a CSI event of sorts. We agreed that a portion of whatever everybody is paying for in green fees will be contributed to Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital and that’s a big deal. Every time you pay your fees you’re donating to a good cause. That, I think for me, is enough for us to continue sponsoring. Otherwise, thank you very much and congratulations all the winners and for those who didn’t play well there’s another chance next month.
Eng. Jacob Byamukama, Entebbe Club chairperson thanked all the golfers who played in the qualification round.
He said,” Entebbe Club is always glad to have you. This remains one of our signature events on the calendar. I thank Stanbic Bank in a special way and all the other partners for joining hands”.
Dr John Bosco Nsubuga, Director Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital appreciated Stanbic Bank, all sponsors and the golfer’s at large for deciding to donate to a good cause. Entebbe Hospital serves a population of about 4.3 million people from the areas of Entebbe, Kalangala, Wakiso, Nakaseke, Gomba, Butambala, Mpigi and Ssese. We need to equip the incubator section and buy more delivery beds for the mothers.
