A noticeable absence at Geoffrey Lutaaya’s Valentine’s Day concert at Sheraton Hotel has sparked speculation about a rift between the singer and National Unity Platform (NUP) President, Bobi Wine.
This comes after Bobi Wine attended other high-profile events organized by artists affiliated with the NUP, including the one for Big Eye, King Saha’s concerts at Lugogo Cricket Oval and A Pass’s concert at Serena Hotel in Kampala.
Rumors suggest that the rift stems from Lutaaya’s alleged decision to side with former Leader of opposition Hon. Mathias Mpunga’s group in a contentious 500-million-shilling dispute.
Despite efforts by Kayemba Solomon to broker a reconciliation meeting between the two, sources claim that Bobi Wine was unsatisfied with Lutaaya’s explanation, leaving the rift unresolved.
Bobi Wine’s absence from Lutaaya’s concert was not only physical but also digital, as he failed to endorse the event on social media, a departure from his usual practice.
This perceived snub has ignited debate about the nature of Bobi Wine’s relationship with Lutaaya and the potential implications for the NUP.
Lutaaya’s concert, initially planned for February 14th at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, was highly anticipated, especially after his announcement at Haruna Mubiru’s concert last year.
Without Bobi Wine in the House, Lutaaya still managed to register a successful show.
It has been described as the most profitable concert so far as the Nice and lovely singer managed to sale over 60 VIP tables, an achievement that has been achieved by very few singers in the industry.
