Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Chairperson, Prof. Celestino Obua, has announced a significant reduction in examination malpractice cases during the 2024 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams.
This development marks a positive trend, with UACE 2024 recording the lowest number of malpractice cases compared to the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) and Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams.
“on another positive note, the #UACE2024 examination had the least number of cases of examination malpractice compared to the Primary Leaving examination (PLE) and UCE examinations, and as such, very few results will be withheld. The affected candidates will be accorded hearings as provided by law.” Prof. Obua said.
As a result, only a few results will be withheld, and affected candidates will be given hearings as stipulated by law.
The Board has completed hearings for withheld PLE cases, releasing results where evidence was insufficient and canceling proven cases in accordance with the UNEB Act.
To promote transparency and prevent headteachers from issuing fake results, the Board will publish a list of affected cases. This move aims to maintain the integrity of the examination process and ensure accountability.
Under Prof. Obua’s leadership, UNEB continues to prioritize fairness and transparency in its examination processes.
