In a bid to improve judicial efficiency and service delivery, the Judiciary of Uganda has announced the transfer of 28 judicial officers, including Registrars and Magistrates.
Additionally, two new Magistrates Grade I have been deployed to strengthen the administration of justice across various judicial stations.
Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo welcomed the decision, emphasizing that the transfers aim to address staffing gaps and ensure justice is delivered effectively.
He urged the transferred officers to uphold professionalism and integrity in their new roles, stating, “Let the people see and feel the justice that we have committed to delivering under the new Judiciary.”
The transfers, which were effected on March 14, were overseen by Acting Chief Registrar, Her Worship Pamella Lamunu Ocaya.
She noted that the redeployments were carefully considered to optimize the utilization of judicial resources while maintaining integrity and efficiency.
She affirmed that the judicial officers are expected to assume their new roles immediately.
Among the notable transfers, Her Worship Prossy Katushabe, previously the Registrar at the Judicial Training Institute, has been reassigned to the High Court.
Furthermore, three Deputy Registrars have been given key roles, including Her Worship Angualia Moses Gabriel, now overseeing the Inspectorate of Courts, and Her Worship Lillian Bucyana, who moves to the Judicial Training Institute as the in-charge of the Registry.
Several Chief Magistrates have also been reassigned, including Her Worship Mfitundinda George, who moves from Kamwenge to Mayuge, and Her Worship Atim Harriet Okello, now stationed in Kamwenge.
The changes also affect Magistrates Grade I, with officers like Her Worship Otwao Fidelis transferring from Lyantonde to the Chief Registrar’s office as a Personal Assistant, and Her Worship Dr. Irene Namae moving from the Supreme Court to the Court of Appeal.
Additionally, Her Worship Kamba Richard, a Magistrate Grade II, has been reassigned from Tororo to Bukedea. Meanwhile, Her Worship Situma Kenneth Michael has been newly deployed as a Magistrate Grade I in Jinja.
The Judiciary expressed gratitude to the officers for their dedication in their previous stations and extended best wishes for their success in their new assignments.
These transfers are expected to enhance the judicial system’s efficiency and ensure better service delivery for all Ugandans.
