The family of Martha Ahumuza Murari is still waiting for an official autopsy report from the Uganda Police, days after she was laid to rest.
Ahumuza, 23, collapsed at Mezo Noir nightclub in Kololo and was later pronounced dead at Kampala Hospital.
At her funeral in Nyarubanga Parish, Kakiika Sub-county, Mbarara District, her father, Mr. Seth Murari, expressed frustration over the lack of clarity regarding her sudden passing.
“We have not yet gotten results from the police, we are still waiting for them. We don’t know what caused her death,” Mr. Murari said.
He revealed that while doctors found a crack in her skull that led to internal brain bleeding, the family has not received an official post-mortem report.
It remains unclear whether police forensic pathologists have shared their findings.
Mr. Murari also urged the public to refrain from spreading falsehoods about his daughter’s death on social media, calling for respect and sensitivity during this difficult time.
“We lost our child in a mysterious way. It is painful for a young girl to die like that. Some people on social media are mocking us, but we need humanity in such moments,” he said.
Meanwhile, police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed that forensic pathologists conducted a post-mortem examination, and samples from the deceased were sent to the Government Analytical Laboratory (GAL) for further analysis. However, no report has been issued yet.
“The parents were informed that results are still pending. We advised them to proceed with the burial as we continue investigations,” Mr. Onyango stated.
Police are currently holding four suspects in connection with Ahumuza’s death.
Two minors have been released on bond, while two prime suspects remain in custody. Authorities have not disclosed further details on the investigation.
As the family mourns, they remain anxious for answers.
“We were all happy to have her in our lives, and suddenly, this happened,” said her sibling, Enoch Owomugisha. The family now waits for the police report, hoping it will bring clarity to their tragic loss.
