Uganda is set to host the 13th African Potato Association (APA) Triennial Conference from May 25 to 30, 2025, marking a major milestone for the region’s agricultural sector.
The conference will take place at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala, bringing together scientists, policymakers, farmers, and industry players from across the continent and beyond.
Organized under the theme “Harnessing Potato and Sweetpotato Innovations for Resilient and Nutritious Agri-food Systems”, the event aims to showcase breakthroughs in potato and sweetpotato research and development, while fostering collaboration to address food security, nutrition, and climate resilience in Africa.
The APA 2025 conference is expected to feature keynote speeches, technical sessions, exhibitions, and field excursions.
With Uganda’s rising prominence in root and tuber crop production, especially sweetpotato, the country’s selection as host signals growing regional leadership in agricultural innovation.
The conference is anticipated to attract over 500 delegates, offering a unique platform to exchange knowledge and forge partnerships that support sustainable agriculture and nutrition goals.
The African Potato Association, established in 1983, holds the triennial conference as its flagship event to promote research, policy dialogue, and investment in the potato and sweetpotato sectors across Africa.
