Hima Cement Ltd. has expressed strong appreciation for the Uganda Police Force following a recent operation in Luweero District that led to the arrest of suspects involved in the distribution of counterfeit cement.
The company clarified in a statement issued today that while it was not directly involved in the April 5th police raid, it is fully cooperating with authorities by providing technical support to aid the investigation.
“We strongly condemn this illegal activity, which puts the lives of our customers at severe risk and threatens the integrity of our industry,” said Philemon Mubiru, Head of Innovation and Marketing at Hima Cement.
Hima Cement emphasized that ensuring product integrity and customer safety remains its top priority. The company has deployed technical teams to assist investigators and is encouraging the public to report any suspicious products.
The company reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality and safety in all its operations and warned that counterfeit cement not only misleads consumers but poses significant risks in construction.
Hima Cement, a subsidiary of the Sarrai Group, was established in 1994 and operates manufacturing plants in Kasese, Tororo, and Namanve. It produces over two million tons of cement annually and serves markets in Uganda as well as exports to East DRC, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
