The Electoral Commission has announced changes to the schedule for the display of the National Voters Register and Registers for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) in preparation for the upcoming 2025/2026 General Elections.
Originally set to begin on April 17 and run through May 8, 2025, the display of the National Voters Register will now commence on April 25 and conclude on May 15, 2025.
The revision aims to streamline preparations and ensure effective public participation in the electoral process.
Similarly, the display of registers for Special Interest Groups—including youths, persons with disabilities, and older persons—has been rescheduled.
This exercise will now take place from April 25 to May 8, 2025, instead of the previously planned April 17 to April 28 period.
In a related update, the Commission has also adjusted the period during which recommendations on inclusions and deletions from the register, as received from the respective Parish Tribunals, will be displayed.
This phase will now run from May 16 to May 26, 2025, across all parishes nationwide.
The Electoral Commission, citing its constitutional and legal mandate under Article 61(1)(e) of the 1995 Constitution and the Electoral Commission Act (Cap 176), urged all stakeholders to actively participate in the updated display exercises.
The Commission emphasized the importance of public scrutiny in ensuring a transparent and credible voters register ahead of the national elections.
Stakeholders are also advised to adhere to the guidelines that will be issued for the smooth conduct of the exercise.
