As the battle for the ownership of National Unity Platform (NUP) takes shape, a new legal challenge emerged yesterday with the Electoral Commission (EC) declining to gazette the party’s new constitution. The rejection was announced yesterday following a closed door meeting between EC officials and NUP’s top echelons at the electoral body’s headquarters in Kampala. A woman who succumbed to injuries reportedly inflicted on her by her ex-husband, has become the subject of a Police investigation after her body was stolen from the mortuary. According to initial reports, the woman, Aisha Nandudu, 32, suffered severe injuries meted out by her jilted husband, Abdu Baluku, a Kampala-based businessman. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed the Ugandan High Commissioner to the UK to start preliminary investigations into allegations that the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, has property in there. Henry Okello Oryem, the state minister for international relations, said the probe would include examining all the title deeds in the UK. The Territorial Police in Katonga Region and Mpigi CPS, have in custody one Swaibu Murundi, a 43 year old, traditional healer of Butamba village, Kayabwe Town Council, in Mpigi district for the Aggravated Defilement of 5 girl victims aged 16,15,15,14, and 12; since 2020 up to date.
