President Yoweri Museveni on Friday reaffirmed his government’s ban on exportation of unprocessed minerals from the country. The President was commissioning the country’s first Tin Smelting factory in Ruti, Mbarara City making Uganda the fourth country to start the smelting of Tin in Africa. The completion of Kabalega International Airport, in Hoima district, has suffered a big setback with the contractor SBC seeking for more than fifteen months to have works completed. The International Crimes Division of the High Court in Kampala has sentenced four people to serve eight years in jail for plotting to kill former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen Edward Kale Kayihura and Namayingo District Police Commander (DPC) Maj Francis Okumu. Police have arrested the former Equity Bank Executive Director for Commercial Banking, Mr Kenneth Onyango, to assist with ongoing investigations into alleged stock loan and agent float financing fraud.
