Afripads (U) Ltd has donated 3,000 packs of reusable sanitary pads, boosting Parliament’s effort to provide the sanitary towels to girls in Northern Uganda. The donation brings the total collections of reusable sanitary towels to 8,954, which will be distributed to selected primary schools in Pader, Kitgum, Lamwo districts. Women At Work International, a local Non-Government Organization intended to improve the quality life of women, has recognized the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Former presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye accused the government for neglecting being responsible for the food crisis and insecurity in Uganda. Rebecca Nyandeng, the opposition figure and widow of the late SPLM leader John Garang de Mabior, said she got the information about her appointment into the national dialogue committee through media. “I did not know anything about this appointment into the national dialogue. Almost 19 people have been reportedly killed during clashes between the fighters of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel Wahid al-Nur (SLM-AW) and government militia who tried to sneak into Torang Tora area in Nertiti locality, Central Darfur State.
