The Electoral Commission has declared twelve (12) candidates duly nominated to contest in the Parliamentary and Local Government Councils by-elections in Omoro County, Omoro District. The nomination exercise commenced on Thursday 12th May and closed Friday 13th at Omoro District Council Hall, Omoro. A total of one hundred fifty(150) Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) soldiers and Ministry of Defence support staff have successful completed a two weeks training on the importance of maintaining the right ideology. The Committee on Finance, Planning and Economic Development has thrown out a proposal by the finance ministry that grants government Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) the discretion of setting user fees for services that are considered non-tax revenues. Non-Tax Revenue (NRT) is charged against services provided by government and payable only when the services are availed for example passport and driving license renewals. The Parliamentary Committee on Trade, Tourism and Industry on Monday, April 25 2022 commenced investigations into the controversial coffee deal signed between Government and Uganda Vinci Coffee Company Limited (UVCC). Parliament’s adhoc committee investigating the Naguru-Nakawa land row is probing the manner in which some companies and individuals acquired land. The committee interacted with some of the companies and individuals of interest, on Thursday, 21 April 2022, including Anil Damani, a private investor. Damani told the committee chaired by Hon.
