Veteran army officer and Internal Affairs minister Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire has said no one should expect bush-war generals like him to retire from service because, retirement has never been part of their plan. LastMile, an initiative to train smallholder farmers in Africa on the prevention of animal diseases and leverage access to veterinary medicine, has reached more than 40,000 farmers in six countries. The initiative aims to bridge the gap (“last mile”) in access, availability, and awareness of animal healthcare solutions in hard-to-reach areas. This improves productivity and income generation, hence ensuring food security and livelihood for the local communities. Teso traditional leader Emorimori Papa Sande Emolot has called upon the government to expedite the demarcation of Tororo Rock and other tourism facilities in the Bukedi sub-region. Emorimori made this comment during the 2023 World Wildlife Day celebrations at King George stadium in Tororo Municipality. MTN Uganda-sponsored Smart Girls Foundation has today passed out 20 girls with vocational skills in the inaugural graduation ceremony held at the MTN Girls with Tools Skilling Centre, Kitetika Gayaza road, in Wakiso District. This comes seven months since MTN Foundation launched a training facility at the Smart Girls Foundation in July last year with a training capacity of more than 400 women per year in vocational and business skills in servicing and washing bays, computer application, electricity installation, welding, carpentry, tailoring and house painting. Global Credit Rating Co ltd (GCR) has assigned Uganda Development Bank Limited (‘UDB’) national scale issuer private ratings of AA+(UG)/A1+(UG) in the long and short term respectively, a notch below the highest possible rating with the outlook accorded as Stable. The Electoral Commission has released the programme for conducting the by-election of Member of Parliament for Serere County Constituency, Serere District. The by–election programme will commence with an update of the National Voters’ Register from Friday 6th to Tuesday 10th January, 2023 at update stations in each of the thirty-eight (38) parishes and wards in Serere County. MpaMpe is a digital hybrid crowd-funding application that seeks to bridge the gap between the needy or campaigners and funders or sponsors to support their ideas through a transparent model and accountability of funds.
