Eastern Uganda, 22nd December 2022: In a bid to promote the Elgon region as a top tourist destination, the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities, with agencies Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Wildlife Authority, UWEC, UHHTI, and UWRI, and private sector players, on Tuesday officially flagged off a team of more than 300 people to the Eastern Uganda route at the Uganda Museum in the domestic tourism promotional drive dubbed “Explore Elgon.” The official raising of the flag was done by the Hon. The MTN-sponsored Busoga Kingdom bicycle race competition dubbed “Obugaali Bwa Masaza” was concluded last weekend in the Eastern District of Jinja. 66 participants from the 11 counties of Busoga were flagged off by His Majesty William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV at the Kyabazinga Headquarters in Jinja. MTN Uganda’s Corporate Social Responsibility arm, MTN Foundation, has launched a nationwide youth-centred economic empowerment initiative dubbed the MTN ACE. The MTN ACE initiative was launched in Kampala at the National ICT Innovation hub under the theme “Digital Skills for digital jobs”. The Opposition in Parliament has said that their focus for the next session of Parliament will be on pushing for constitutional and electoral reforms. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, 15 December 2022, the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Mathias Mpuuga, alongside other members of the Opposition said that for the past periods, the electoral and constitutional reforms have been tabled as an afterthought. The Agribusiness Development Centre (ADC) together with its partners DFCU Limited and Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) have awarded over 50 SACCO beneficiaries with certificates after completing a thirteen-weeks training in financial literacy and management, Good Governance & Agriculture marketing.
