President Yoweri Museveni will not attend the inauguration and consecration ceremony of new Soroti Catholic Diocese Rt. Rev Dr Joseph Eciru Oliach. The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah, has appealed to auditors to use their profession to fight embezzlement of funds and corruption in government. He said that the power to check the vices largely lies with the auditors as is dictated by their profession. Workers’ MPs have vowed to frustrate the passing of 2019/2020 Financial Year budget until government appropriates funds for salary enhancement of teachers who are currently on strike. Minister of Finance Matia Kasaija described President Yoweri Museveni’s inland travels as ‘very expensive’ and therefore needs Shs17bn supplementary budget. Kasaija was appearing before the budget committee on Tuesday that has been scrutinizing the request. President Yoweri Museveni was not ‘very sorry’ to his counterparts at the Monday 2nd Inter-Party Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD) held at Protea Hotel, Entebbe after he arrived for the function at the time when it was supposed to be closing. Airtel Uganda in partnership with the Buganda Kingdom has Thursday announced that Shs494 million was collected during the Airtel Kabaka’s Run in August.
