A recommendation by the Committee on Legal and Parliamentary Affairs to have the tenure of all elective offices extended to seven years has met stiff resistance from Members of Parliament. Leading power distributor Umeme has embarked on stakeholder engagement meetings with various stakeholders across the country, starting with Northern Uganda to explain the company’s planned projects aimed at improving power reliability in the communities. Parliament has deferred the approval of a supplementary funding for the financial year 2020/21 of shs292 billion trillion, after it emerged that a request of shs12 billion for compensation of individuals affected by land evictions in Bunyoro was made without the knowledge of the Uganda Land Commission. The Police leadership in Uganda has announced the reshuffle of at least 90 senior police officers in new changes. The reshuffled officers are from the rank of Superintendent of Police to Assistant Superintendent of Police according to the deputy Inspector General of Police Paul Lokech. Gen Lokech in the message has appointed five Superintendent of Police to deputise the Regional Police Commanders in North, West Nile, Kiira, Kyoga, Bukedi and Savannah. The Principal Judge, Hon. Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija, named a six-member team to operationalize the Luweero High Court Circuit to handle cases from Luwero, Nakasongola, and Nakaseke districts. The Court is one of the20 Circuits that were designated in 2016 under the Judicature (Designation of High Court Circuits) Statutory Instrument No. 55 of 2016.
