The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has assured legislators that the institution will interest itself in the quality of relief food distributed to the masses. Kadaga’s reassurance follows a complaint from several MPs during plenary sitting on Tuesday, 12 May 2020 about the quality of the beans being distributed by the government. MTN Uganda through its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, the MTN Foundation has donated Shs. Ugx 41,000,000 million towards the Kasese floods victims. This money will be used to buy non-food relief items to support the families that have been displaced. Results of samples tested on 8 May, 2020 confirmed 13 new COVID-19 cases from 2,421 samples of truck drivers. Out of the 13 new cases,7 are Kenyans, 4 are Ugandans while 2 are Tanzanians. Tracking them has commenced and the public will be informed accordingly. All 740 community samples tested negative for COVID-19. Total COVID-19 confirmed cases are now 114. Total samples tested Friday were 3,161. Total discharges still 55.
Members of Parliament call for review of the learner’s programme developed by the Ministry of Education to keep learners engaged during the COVID19 lock down. In her communication during the plenary sitting on 06 May 2020, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga said that the programme currently broadcast on only UBC radio and television is not benefiting all learners. “Broadcast hours are awkward.
