Thirty people are feared dead after a boat carrying football players and fans capsized in Lake Albert on Sunday afternoon. The state minister of information and communication technology (ICT), Aida Nantaba, has said those behind the assassination attempt are rich individuals with radio station and grabbers of land the country. The Minister remarked during thanks giving ceremony held at seventh day Adventist church Bukolooto, Kayunga district. Parliament has passed the Roads Bill 2018 that will see motorists start paying to use some roads around the country. The bill provides for among others, the prescription of tolls for toll roads that may be put in place by the Minister for Works and Transport by a statutory instrument and in consultation with the Minister for Finance. “A toll prescribed under subsection (1) shall be a charge levied on a vehicle using a toll road for the purpose of recovering the cost of construction, operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of the road,” reads the Bill in part. The head of Uganda’s Mission in South Africa, Hon. Barbara Nekesa, has appealed to Ugandan MPs to push government to streamline the move towards the use of electronic passports in order for the Mission to remain relevant to Ugandans living in the country.
