Judicial officers have on Wednesday suspended their strike and vowed to return to work. According to the Uganda Judicial Officers’ Association president Godfrey Kaweesa, this was done to enable government get time to implement their salary increment proposals however it can be resumed at a later date in case government does not implement its promises to improve their working conditions. Kaweesa reveals that the salary enhancements for judicial officers are expected by November 2017 as other welfare demands including cars, office equipment and security are being worked on. Entebbe DPC Godfrey Ninsiima has confirmed a massive security deployment in Entebbe and the neighboring centers following the unfortunate mysterious women killings in the area. Speaking to NBS TV early this morning Mr Ninsiima that that there has never been a curfew in Entebbe though patrols have been strengthened. There is no curfew in Entebbe, Everybody is operating normally and no one has been told to close at 7PM.” He said. Aruu South Member of Parliament Hon.Odonga Otto dramatically moved the House to halt business until government explains the mysterious killing of women in parts of Wakiso district on Tuesday afternoon. Uganda communications commission (UCC) has suspended ABS television’s broadcasting license poor programing. According to letter dated 5th September signed by the executive director of UCC Godfrey Mutabazi, in a period of 60 days, the station has been barred from petition UCC over suspension of their license or any other claim, till when the commission is satisfied that the Kawala based station has modified and harmonized its programming content as per the law. The nation has been slapped with melancholy following the death of newly elected chairman of the East African Business Council Kassim Omar. According to close relatives, Kassim succumbed after a blood clot operation at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala. The chairman Private Sector Foundation of Uganda Patrick Bitature, says Omar’s unfortunate death is a big loss to the business fraternity in East Africa especially to Uganda. Earlier this afternoon, Hon.Taban Idi Amin was sworn in after he returned to the House unopposed the Kibanda North Member of Parliament. In May, The court of appeal led by Justices Stephen Kavuma, Cheborion Barishaki and Paul Kahaibale Mugamba ordered the Electoral Commission to hold fresh elections for Kibanda North constituency in Kiryandongo district over allegations of not complying with electoral laws. The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has released time tables for the three sets of national examinations set for 2017. According to the UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odongo, UCE candidates will be the first to sit for the first set of exams slated to kick off on October 13th with the briefing of candidates until November 20th.
