The Marriage and Divorce Bill will be re-tabled in Parliament after proposed amendments were presented to the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament. The Uganda Law Commission, which had been tasked by Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister, Hon. Kahinda Otafiire, to review the Bill, updated the Speaker on the Bill. Civil division of High Court has ordered NSSF to pay its Deputy Managing Director Geraldine Ssali Busuulwa legal costs after the board sent her into forced leave in 2016. In his ruling, Justice Stephen Musota, the head of the civil division of the High court, describe the NSSF board’s decision to send Ssali into forced leave as ‘illegal, irrational and procedurally improper’. Deputy Chief Justice Stephen Kavuma has named himself among a panel of five judges to rule whether a single Constitutional court judge can issue interim orders. Justice Kavuma has been on the forefront after issuing several controversial interim orders including interim order restraining Parliament or any person from investigating UGX6bn awarded to 42 government officials & halting prosecution of IGP Kale Kayihura over torture charges among others.
