Legislators are displeased by the government’s refusal not to extend nomination time by the requested 14 days for local government and parliamentary contenders, citing the government’s sabotage of its citizens. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as Head of the Commonwealth, has today recognised Abel Odeke, representing Uganda, as the 157th Commonwealth Point of Light in honour of his exceptional voluntary service promoting water equality. Abel is the co-founder of ‘Equal Aqua Uganda’, an initiative which aims to build sustainable water tanks in rural Uganda providing a clean water source for the next 20 years. The Uganda Police is investigating the matter into which gun fire rocked Bukoto, a Kampala Suburb. This was after a senior Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) officer identified as Capt. Robert Namara survived a nasty abduction a few meters at the entry to his shop. This incident happened on Saturday Morning at around 1:20am. Sudan’s transitional government and several rebel groups signed a peace agreement in Juba on Saturday aimed at resolving decades of conflicts which left millions displaced and hundreds of thousands dead. The families of three people knocked by the lead vehicle of the speaker Rebecca Kadaga’s convoy in Fort Portal Tourism city are demanding compensation of Shs 400 million. The accident occurred on August 3, 2020, at Boma as Kadaga headed out Fort Portal, where she had gone to campaign on the radio for her re-election back on the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party central executive committee. Members of Parliament have expressed concern about the continued power black outs in police barracks around the country. This prompted the Speaker, Rebecca Kadaga to direct the Internal Affairs Minister, Gen Jeje Odongo to offer an explanation on the circumstances. Kasambya County MP, Hon. Gaffa Mbwatekamwa said the electricity bills for these barracks have not been paid and power disconnected. “Our officers have been denied access to power.
