Former presidential aspirant Dr. Kizza Besigye has celebrated the appointment of John Musinguzi Rujoki as Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) commissioner general on Sunday afternoon. Besigye described the appointment as long one that took so long! He also revealed that he had a terrific encounter with Musinguzi when he stood witness in a case accusing him (Besigye) of rape. Ministry of Health has released details of the latest people that have tested positive for COVID-19. In a Statement issued this evening, the confirmed cases have raised to 33 after three more people tested positive this evening.

Ruparelia foundation has joined the government of Uganda in the intensive fight against the spread of Covid 19. The team lead by city tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia showed exceptional love by distributing 5,500 food packages to needy people in 20 different locations across Kampala Metropolitan Area. The charity drive kicked off on Saturday in Kagugube Parish, Bukesa, Kisenyi 1, 2 and 3 Parishes. On Sunday, they will be in Kamwokya one and 2 and Kololo 1, 2, 3 and 4. A section of MPs has called for a stimulus to cushion the economy against the effects of Covid19. The stimulus, MPs led by Kampala Central’s Muhammad Nsereko said, would include the stay of all loan repayments, lowering of the Central Bank lending rate, as well as food supplies for the downtrodden. “When you keep people out of work, you must find a solution to maintain liquidity and cash flow,” said Nsereko during a press conference held at Parliament Building on Thursday 26 March 2020. The United Kingdom said Friday that Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for the new coronavirus. Johnson was tested for COVID-19 on Thursday after experiencing “mild symptoms,” a spokesman for No. 10 Downing Street said in a statement. “The test was carried out in No 10 by NHS staff and the result of the test was positive,” the spokesman said. “In keeping with the guidance, the Prime Minister is self-isolating in Downing Street.
President Kaguta Museveni has announced that Uganda has confirmed four new cases. This was made in a communication made this morning bringing country’s total to 18 cases. Museveni added that 301 tested negative. According to the president, these four had been under institutional quarantine in the various hotels identified by the sub-committee on quarantine. They have been evacuated to Mulago Hospital for treatment.

The minister for trade and industry Hon. Amelia Kyambadde has challenged security personnel to desist from beating people in the event of enforcing the presidential directives.
