The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Justice Simon Byabakama has revealed that the nomination dates for presidential, parliamentary and local government elections have been moved from August to October 2020. The revelation follows concerns raised by Members of Parliament that government business would be suffocated if the nominations are in August which will have the MPs and ministers taking time off to take part in campaigns. The High Court is set to hold 11 Special Sessions on Land Justice in different parts of the country, targeting to clear at least 220 land cases in 60 days. The sessions are scheduled to commence on Monday February 24. A section of lawyers have asked the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, to reign in on the Uganda Law Council (Law Council) for what they said is a vile plot to lock them out of legal practice. Police has distanced itself from claims by People Power Movement leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine accusing the force of killing one of his supporters.
