Police has this morning fired teargas and live bullets to disperse striking Makerere University students. Students had gathered at Freedom Square for a meeting to decide their next step following the closed-door meeting held with the University Council yesterday. The Government of Uganda through National Water and Sewerage Corporation has signed a 9,112,528,095 Billion UGX agreement with VAMBECO LTD to upgrade Kapeeka water system in Kapeeka, Nakaseke district. According to NWSC MD Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha, the current water treatment plant in Kapeeka produces 2million litres of water per day which is not sufficient to meet the water supply needs of the community and the business park. “The upgrade works when completed will boost water production to 7.5million litres per day in support of the Government’s efforts to provide safe water for human consumption and economic development.” Dr. Silver…

Makerere University Management has distanced itself from the police brutality that happened at the Ivory Tower during the tuition increment strikes. People power official and wiser opposition supporters have lashed at the troubled singer Eddy Kenzo who recently won the African Entertainment Award. This follows the System Volongoto singer’s visit to State House on president Museveni’s invitation, a move that was described as hypocritical on the forces of change. However mixed reactions have continued to emerge as some officials believe Kenzo’s was on merit since he had gone to meet the president just like several other people winning international accolades have done.
President Museveni has evening met and comforted troubled musician Edrisah Musuuza alias Eddy Kenzo. Kenzo was recently crowned African Entertainer of the year. The BET award winner has been in the news after his woman Rema Namakula left him to marry a doctor. After four days of nonstop protests at Makerere University, the management of the institution has invited student leaders for talks. The students are protesting the 15 per cent cumulative tuition policy which was approved by the top governing body.
