Matia Kasaija, Finance minister has said that government will continue to exercise caution while taking on new national debts to avoid suffocating the country’s economy. Kasaija assured the country during that FY 2019/20 Budget reading that whereas Uganda’s debt continues to rise, it is still sustainable. Finance minister Matia Kasaija has observed that unemployment levels, income inequality and malnutrition and unhealthy lifestyles are the major development challenge facing Uganda’s economy. While presenting the FY 2019/20 Budget, Kasaija said that despite the positive economic trends, the four bottlenecks continue to stifle efforts for the economy to be propelled further into greater heights. Finance minister Matia Kasaija has revealed that government will in the new FY 2019/20 embark on serious marketing of the Uganda’s Tourism sector. Kasaija while presenting the FY 2019/20 National Budget said that Tourism was ranked as the highest foreign exchange earning sector in 2018, earning the country $1.02 billion, with 1.6 million international tourist arrivals. Parliament is determined to push through a Private Member’s Bill on Local Content despite the reluctance from government. Dr. Ruth Aceng the Minister of Health has confirmed an Ebola outbreak in Kasese District, that boarders with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The confirmed case is a five-year-old boy who has been admitted and isolated at Bwera Hospital Ebola Treatment Unit as he undergoes further management.
