The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has set a date for the repeat presidential election as ordered by the Supreme Court on Friday last week. According to the electoral commission, the repeat exercise will be carried out on October 17, 2017. IEBC, however, has stated that only President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga will be on the ballot. The Supreme Court nullified President Uhuru’s re-election, ordering a fresh presidential election in 60 days. Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has released this year’s national examination dates. The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) will begin on October 23 with the oral tests while the written exam will take place between November 6 and 29, 2017. Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination (KCPE) candidates will sit their exams on November 1 and 2. The rehearsals will be done on October 31. Lil Wayne has reportedly been taken to hospital after suffering a seizure and being found unconscious in his hotel room in Chicago. Celebrity website TMZ says the 34-year-old rapper, who has epilepsy, suffered a number of fits and had another one after arriving at A&E. He had been due to perform in Las Vegas on Sunday night. UN investigators on Monday accused Burundi’s government of crimes against humanity, including executions and torture, and urged the International Criminal Court to open a case “as soon as possible”.
