Every year Rotary recognizes high performing individuals that continue to transform society with a Vocational Award. This year the Rotary Club of Bukoto awarded a re-Neurosurgeon(brain surgery), Dr. Michael Edgar Muhumuza, who is a Senior Consultant in Neurology and Neurosurgery and is currently the Head of Neurosurgery at the Mulago National Referral Hospital. Muhumuza holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Guangxi Medical University in China, and a Masters of Medicine in Neurosurgery from Tianjin Medical Universe. Lawmakers have appealed for evacuation of Ugandans especially students in China in the midst of the deadly coronavirus in Wuhan province. Hon. Latif Sebaggala (Indep., Kawempe North) raised a matter of national importance during a plenary sitting on 11 February 2020, saying that he has received messages from students who are concerned about their plight. According to the letter from the students read by Ssebagala, there has been general lack of necessities including groceries and masks. MTN Uganda, through its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, the MTN Foundation has officially handed over theMpugwe Health Center III maternity ward in Masaka after renovating and equipping it as a way of giving back to society. Legislators on the Parliamentary Committee of Gender, Labour and Social Development, want the proposed Labor Disputes (Arbitration and Settlement Amendment) Bill to empower employers and labour unions arbitrate over disputes between workers and employers in a bid to reduce back log at the Industrial Court.
