The Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Zaake, has defended himself against allegations of threatening Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, arguing that the ongoing investigations are aimed at diverting the public’s attention from what happened during the strike at the university. The Uganda Electoral Commission has further extended the period for the update of the National Voters Register for more seven days. The exercise, according to the new programme, will run from today 16th up to the 23rd December 2019. “We have extended the period for updating the National Voters’ Register,” said Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, Chairperson Electoral Commission, in a statement on Monday. MTN Uganda through its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, the MTN Foundation has donated Shs.31,000,000 milliontowards the Bundibugyo floods victims. This money will be used for buying non-food relief items to support the families that have been displaced following the floods that left many people displaced, houses destroyed and lives lost. The floods followed the heavy rains that hit the district from the 6th to 7th of this month.
