The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), General David Muhoozi yesterday welcomed back 529 UPDF troops who were part of the fifth United Nation Guard Unit (UNGU V) in Somalia and another 1,406 troops of Uganda’s 25th Battle Group to Somalia. The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has challenged girls to enroll for technical courses such as welding saying that they have competitive advantage over men once they acquire such skills. The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, appointed Ms Byanyima as the UNAIDS Executive Director and United Nations Under-Secretary-General following a comprehensive selection process that involved a search committee constituted by members of the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board. The long awaited National Social Security Fund (NSSF) (amendment) bill, 2019 has been presented to the House for first reading. This was made this afternoon during Tuesday plenary by the Minster of Gender, Labour and Social Development. Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda has said security personnel involved in alleged human rights violations will suffer the consequences of their own actions.
