Tanzanian president John Pombe Magufuli has closed Kenya-Tanzania border from Tanzanian side. Not even a cargo truck will be allowed to cross the border. This is in retaliation to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to close the border and allow cargo only. Magufuli also revealed that his child had coronavirus but healed from taking lemon water. The Ministry of Health has met with representatives of the Truck Owners and National Logistics Platform. This follows the Presidential Directive that only truck drivers with negative test results will be allowed into the country. The meeting resolved to mobilize, counsel and test all truck drivers employed in Uganda. It adopted and will implement “Truck Driver Journey Management System” Mobile application for all truck drivers to be monitored as they proceed with the journey. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has kickstarted the move to repatriate Ugandans stuck abroad. In a statement issued on 15th May 2019, the government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo, revealed that a number of 20 Ugandans have been cleared to return to the Pearl of Africa. He added that this was done following the numerous calls by the August House and other government officials to have Ugandans stranded abroad helped. “It is therefore in that light that Foreign Affairs Minister Hon.
