Parliament led by the Speaker, Rebecca Kadaga have honoured the late Hon Med Kaggwa who collapsed and died on his way to work on Wednesday, 20 November 2019. The Ministries of Health and Education are considering further assessment of medical and dental graduates, as a requirement before internship. This is aimed at eliminating incompetent medical practitioners whose number, the Ministry of Health says is on the rise even after the mandatory one year of pre-clinical training. The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah has appealed to the European Union (EU) to respect the sovereignty of African states. He accused the EU of continuously influencing how African countries define democracy, saying that whilst many African states are independent, they cannot practice their own ideologies of democracy. “Why are we disrespecting people? If a country wants to do what is best for them, allow them to seek and find on their own what is best for them as a country,” Oulanyah said. The unfortunate death of the Human Rights Commission boss Meddie Kaggwa has raised a lot of mixed reactions. The 64 year old human rights defender passed away early this morning at around 9:30AM, hours after his body was brought at the Buganda Road based Case Clinic treatment. Several scholars have started the campaign demanding for thorough investigation and clear postmortem report on his death. The Chairperson of the Uganda Human Rights Commission – UHRC Meddie Kaggwa, is dead after collapsing in his car on his way to work this morning. The incident is said to have happened near Mulago. According to an eye-witness, the car had to be broken into to remove him. He was rushed to Case Hospital where doctors tried to save his life but all in vain. Until his death, Kaggwa, had served as chairperson of Uganda Human Rights Commission for more than eight years.

Fortebet, Uganda’s betting giant, over the weekend gave back to residents of Entebbe gifts worth Shs. 10 million.
