Four Makerere University officials have snubbed summons to appear before the Police Directorate of Criminal Investigations at Kibuli. They are Margaret Etuusa the Deputy Academic Registrar in Charge of Certificates and Ceremonies Division, Prof. Noble Banadda, Levi Tumushabe and Francis Ninyenda, all procurement officers. The National Resistance Movement Kyadondo East By-Election Parliamentary race candidate Sitenda William Ssebalu has said that he will win the race with a majority vote. Speaking to the media shortly after casting his vote, Ssebalu added that after winning, he shall invite his counterpart Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu to entertain his guests since he is musician. Earlier, the NRM Wakiso Boss Hajji Abdul Kiyimba exchanged bitter words with residents as he moved closer to the polling station and later draw the pistol at people when they shouted at him.
Wakiso District National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairman Haji Abdul Kiyimba survived being Lynched by Bobi Wine supporters. Chaos marred at some polling stations when Kiyimba was chased out of Magere polling station where independent candidate Robert Kyagulanyi voted from. Police also later denied him access to Wampewo polling station as his presence was not trusted by the locals. He attempted to pull out apisto to intimidate people but residents merged with police managed to force him out. Police is to deploy 800 personnel in Kyadondo East in Wakiso district ahead of the tomorrow’s by elections. Frank Mwesigwa, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander, says they intend to deploy officers at all the 94 polling stations in the nine parishes that make up Kyadondo East constituency. “The security is calm, as you can see. We are finalizing our deployment plan,” Mwesigwa told URN this morning shortly after attending a planning meeting at Kasangati police Station. FUFA and the South Sudan Football Association have both confirmed dates and venues for the CHAN 2018 Kenya qualifiers between the two Nations. FUFA CEO Edgar Watson has confirmed that the 93rd FUFA General Assembly will be held on 5th August 2017 at Kabalega Resort Hotel, Masindi in Kitara Region.
