Paul Bakebwa elder brother of former Go Forward presidential candidate John Patrick Amama Mbabazi has been involved in a nasty accident. This tragic incident happened this afternoon along Kabale-Katuna road. He’s currently admitted to Kabale regional hospital in critical conditions.
Gen Andrew Gutti has been sworn in for a second term as Chairman of the Army court sitting at Makindye in Kampala. Gutti has been sworn in by Judge Advocate Lt. Col Gideon Katinda, alongside other 14 members of the court including; majors, Lieutenant Colonels, captains and warrant officers. Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has invited South Sudan’s rebel leader Riek Machar to attend a meeting aimed at the reunification of the different factions of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM). In May, three factions of South Sudan’s SPLM party agreed in in Kampala to set aside their differences and work out a roadmap to reunify the party, but the main armed opposition faction loyal to Riek Machar didn’t attend the meeting. “Your representatives are hereby invited to attend so that mediation process is all inclusive. South Sudan’s fragile unity government has failed to name a deputy foreign minister for almost a year, raising questions about further political understandings between the coalition partners in the current government in Juba. Public Health specialists in Lira want Joseph Omoo alias Ajep, who is being held at Lira Central Police Station to be detained in an isolation cell since he is a Multi-Drug Resistance Tuberculosis -MDR TB case. Ajep who was remanded to Lira Central Government Prison, escaped on Friday last week from TB ward 5 at Lira Regional Referral Hospital where he was receiving treatment for MDR TB. The President of Guinea who is also current AU Chairman H.E. Alpha Conde has called on Africa governments to increase their investments in the African youths in order to develop their confidence and potential, as well as to assure and prepare them for their future leadership roles on the continent. Unionized drivers and cyclists have complained of double taxation and asked Parliament to address problems hindering their prosperity. The drivers and cyclists petitioned the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, under the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers’ Union (ATGWU) on Monday. The petitioners were led by Workers MP Hon. Margaret Rwabusahiaja (Ind). The Local Government Accounts Committee has tasked Accounting Officers in the Gulu Audit region to explain the queries raised by the Auditor General in the financial report for the year ended 30th June 2016. The Committee led by the Chairperson, Hon. Reagan Okumu, met Chief Administrative Officers from the districts of Gulu, Kitgum, Agago and Nwoya.
