A ceremony was held on Thursday morning to officially renamed Zimbabwe’s main airport in the capital Harare after its president. The Harare International Airport – one of the biggest in the country, is now known as the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport. The event which saw the 93-year-old president unveil a plaque that said the renaming of the facility was to ‘honour’ him. Apparently, the terminal building was inaugurated by Mugabe in April 2001. “It’s Official !!! AXED Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday reportedly went into hiding in one of his closets in Harare following threats on his life as State security agents blocked him from leaving the country for neighboring Mozambique via Mutare’s Forbes Border Post. His family confirmed last night that Mnangagwa had sought refuge at a private home after receiving death threats from suspected State security agents. Lord mayor Elias Lukwago has warned the minister of Kampala Hon. Betty Kamya against using Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) to promote the campaign on the lifting of presidential age limit. Speaking during a press conference held at City Hall on Thursday Morning, Lukwago says Kamya has no powers to officiate or direct the council activities. State House has trashed allegations by the opposition members of Parliament inciting that the 29 age limit money was meant to compromise them. According to the lawmakers, the 29 million shilling to MPs in the guise of age limit consultations is a bribe from president Museveni since the money was not passed by parliament as elaborated by the opposition Chief Whip Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda during the presser at parliament.
