Efforts to suffocate Hon. Raphael Magezi and blocking his age limit bill from being a success has taken a taking a new twist. On Wednesday afternoon, a team of activists have run to court seeking a court injunction stopping any parliamentary proceedings on the controversial bill. The national Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Council (CEC) has on Tuesday evening pledged to support the age limit amendment bill in parliament. In a closed door meeting held at State House Entebbe, the senior party members agreed to popularize the move to other party structures to ensure that the controversial article102b of the constitution is trashed. The bill was tabled by Igara West Member of Parliament Hon. Raphael Magezi last months and its currently before the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs committee.
The forum for Democratic Change party president Gen. Mugisha Muntu has called off his country wide party campaign over the continued detention of the party members. According to the Gen. Human right lawyer and activist Nicholas Opiyo has decried the manner in government organizations have handled the controversial age limit removal saga in the country. Kampala central Member of Parliament Hon. Muhammad Nsereko has asked government to not to fund the age limit consultative countrywide meetings.
